ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION TO THE FIRST YEAR OF THE DEGREE COURSES
1. MINIMUM PERCENTAGE OF MARKS REQUIRED:
B.COM (HONS) & B.A. (HONS)
(Ist year) 45%
B.COM & B.A. PROGRAMME
(Ist year) 40%
The above-mentioned minimum percentages of marks are of the last qualifying examination as prescribed by the University of Delhi.
2. EXAMINATIONS RECOGNISED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF DELHI
A candidate will be considered for admission if he/she has qualified in any one of the following examinations recognized by the University of Delhi.
- Senior School Certificate Examination (Class XII) of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi or an examination recognized as equivalent. (Pass in four subjects - one language and three elective subjects)
- Pre-University Examination: 2 years after 10 years of schooling, of an Indian University recognized by the University of Delhi. (Pass in four subjects)
- Intermediate examination of an Indian University/Board or an examination recognized as equivalent by the University of Delhi. (Pass in four subjects)
- Indian School Certificate Examination (Class XII) of the Council of Indian School Examination, New Delhi. (Pass in four subjects)
- General Certificate of Education Examination of the U.K.
a) Pass in five subjects at Ordinary Level and
b) Pass in at least two subjects at the Advanced Level.
These two Advanced Level Courses may be chosen from among the five Ordinary Level subjects or from outside this group as prescribed by the University of Delhi.
Wherever the G.C.E. Certificate indicates the grades, such grades will be treated at par with grades of Indian School Certificate Examination for the purpose of admission requirements.
PROCEDURE FOR SEEKING ADMISSION
- Fill the application form attached to this prospectus OR the centralized University of Delhi application form completely in your own handwriting.
- Submit separate applications for each course that you wish to apply for.
- Do not attach any original or Photostat certificates, or photographs, with this application form.
- Ensure that your application form is submitted before the last date prescribed by the University of Delhi. The college office will accept application forms on all working days between 4.00 P.M. and 7 P.M.
- An Admission List based on merit and availability of seats will be put up on the prescribed dates. Produce the following documents in original, along with attested photocopies, on the dates and timings of admission as notified :
1. Mark sheet of the last examination passed.
2. Provisional Certificate / Migration / T.C.
3. Certificate of Date of Birth (Class X)
4. Character certificate from the head of the Institution last attended.
PLEASE NOTE :
- Applicants selected for admission will be required to pay their fees and other charges on the notified dates at the college office between 4.00 P.M. and 7 P.M.
- Admission will be refused to students who fail to deposit fees in time.
- No information regarding admission will be sent to individual applicants. All information regarding admission will be notified on the college Notice Board.
- The college reserves the right to cancel the admission of any student without assigning any reason.
- Admitted students who have not passed a Hindi exam at the class VIII/secondary/higher secondary /intermediate levels must pass a COMPULSORY TEST IN HINDI at the end of the first year in college. Students who do not qualify in this test will not be entitled to the Degree.
- A certain percentage of seats are reserved for the following categories :
- Scheduled Castes : 15 % / Scheduled Tribes : 7.5%
- Widows / Wives and Children of Millitary & Paramillitary Personnel killed/disabled in action/on duty; Millitary/paramillitary personnel disabled in action/on duty : 5%.They are required to get their names registered at one of the following centers between 1 June to 15 June 2009.
1. South Campus, Univ. of Delhi.
2. North Campus, Univ. of Delhi.
3. B R Ambedkar College
4. Rajdhani College.
- O.B.C. : 18%
- Physically Challenged candidates : 3% They must get their names registered at the office of the Dean, Student's Welfare, North Campus, Univ. of Delhi.
- Sports & Extra-Curricular activities: 5%. An eligibility certificate issued by the University is required to be submitted along with the application form.
- Overseas students need to get prior approval of the University of Delhi for the purpose of admission. It may be noted that the college has no hostel facilities.
- Concession, to be decided by the Admission Committee, will be given to women candidates in all the courses subject to the fulfilling of minimum eligibility conditions prescribed by the university.
- Concession of maximum of 10% marks will be given to notified OBC students in all courses subject to the fulfilling of minimum eligibility conditions prescribed by University.
- A few seats are available against extraordinary merit in Sports and Cultural Activities. The following are the admission criteria:
- Separate plain paper application must be supported by relevant certificates duly attested by the Head of the Institution last attended.
- Admission will be according to the University of Delhi criteria and rules.
- Candidates will have to appear for performance tests. The dates for the interviews, trials, etc. shall be put on the college notice board.
- Admitted candidates will have to attend and participate regularly in Sports and Cultural events of the college. Failure to do so will lead to Cancellation of Admission at any time.
ALL ADMISSIONS ARE SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE UNIVERSITY OF DELHI.
Prohibition of Ragging and Gender Sensitisation
- Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited within the college premises or any other part of the Delhi
University as well as on public transport.
- Any individual or collective act or practice of ragging constitutes gross indiscipline and shall be dealt with
under Ordinance XV (C) of the University.
- Ragging for the purpose of this Ordinance ordinarily means any act, conduct or practice by which dominant power or status of senior students is brought to bear on students freshly enrolled or students who are in any way considered junior or inferior by other students. It includes individual or collective acts or practices which:
- involve physical assault or threat, and/or use of physical force;
- violate the status, dignity and honour of women and honour of students belonging to the scheduled castes and tribes;
- expose students to ridicule and contempt and affect their self-esteem;
- entail verbal abuse and aggression, indecent gestures and obscene behaviour.
- In case any student(s), who have obtained degrees of Delhi University, are found under this Ordinance committing an act or practice of ragging, he/she/they may be subjected under Ordinance XV to appropriate action for withdrawal of degrees conferred by the University.
- For the purpose of Ordinance XV, abetment of ragging will also amount to ragging.
- As per ordinance XV (D) of the University the College has set up a committee to redress complaints related to
sexual harrasment.
Note: The directives of the University of Delhi, its ordinances, and the guidance of the relevant orders of the Supreme Court of India will be strictly adhered to in all matters related to ragging.
